ICO-24 will consist of plenary sessions, oral sessions, poster sessions, and various social events. The plenary session will feature speakers who will share their viewpoints on very relevant topics of present interest and and also their visions and perspectives on future trends. A current list of the inspiring plenary speakers includes Prof. Hiroshi Amano (2014 Nobel Laureate, Nagoya Univ.), Prof. Hiroshi Kajita (2015 Nobel Laureate, The Univ. of Tokyo), Prof. Christopher Dainty (Imperial Col. London), and Prof. James Fujimoto (Massachusetts Inst. of Tech.).

The ICO represents optics and photonics on an international level incorporating 53 national territories and organizations including the American National Academy of Sciences (NAS), European Optical Society (EOS), the Optical Society of America (OSA), Ibero-American Network of Optics (RIAO), African Laser Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Sciences Network (LAM NETWORK), International Society on Optics Within Life Sciences (OWLS), and the International Society for Optics & Photonics (ISOP formerly SPIE). The ICO general assembly will also take place during the same period.
